Quote: Paris - July 17, 2002. USB () announces availability of Plugsound volume 3: Drums & percs Elements. Each Plugsound volume is a virtual instrument based on a professional sample library, available as a VST2 plug-in (Mac-PC), and a MAS and RTAS plug-in on the Mac. Volume 3 is a state of the art sound module that offers hundreds of presets using more than 6,000 samples.

Under the hood is the powerful UVI-Engine? Which features dual multimode filters, separate amplitude and filter envelopes, keyzone editing (a feature only found on a few high-end samplers), and much more. Add an exceptional sound library and you have an irresistible virtual instrument. Key benefits of Plugsound include: € access to world-class drum libraries without the need for a sampler € Professional sound quality that matches high end hardware samplers € amazing sounding filters and mono-legato mode. World-class transposition engine € one of the easiest to use electronic instruments ever created, hardware or software € ability to open this plug-in into most sequencers on Mac and PC € save all edited parameters within the sequence it is being used into € zone-edit capabilities: change parameter values for each sample-zone independently € one of the most cpu-efficient sample-playback engines available today. Plugsound volume 3 focuses on drum and percussion sounds.

It goes further than any module ever did, thanks to its massive 540 MB sample library. Acoustic Drum kits are sorted by style: Jazz kits, Natural kits (Brushes and Hot Rods), Raw kits (for pop and rock) and Treatment kits (distortion, gate and spring reverbs.).

Next comes the electronic drum section. The first folder offers a selection of sounds sorted by machines from which they originates. From the 70’s to the 90’s there are not many missing boxes in this selection. All the classics are there, and a good number of forgotten models as well! The Stylistic kits offer another wide selection of electronic drums which are not so instantly recognizable, and are sorted by style rather than by machine: drums for Dance, Electro, Groove, House, Techno, Trash, Jungle, Disco, Lo-Fi, Vinyl With so many presets available, emphasis was put on the ease of use. This is why each drum sound is accessible in the three following ways: € as part of a GM-compatible drum kit € in a drum-specific program (i.e.

61 snare samples mapped contiguously on the keyboard) € in a unique “Element” folder allowing quick audition of every drum sound in the library, simply by browsing presets one by one while your existing sequence plays. This concept is much simpler to use than to explain. To complete this rhythmic arsenal, an extraordinary percussion selection is supplied. It features more than 60 different instruments such as Congas, Djembe, Bongos, Shakers, Triangle, Tambourine, Castanets, Windchimes, Clave, Darbuka, Woodblock, Berimbau, Timbales, Rainstick and many more. Many percussion instruments have velocity switch presets for added realism. The percussions are also used in GM compliant “drum and perc” presets.

Here's the reply I got from them about PC support: ------------------------------ Hello and thanks for your interest in Plugsound, Unfortunately Plugsound is based on the same audio foundation as stylus and other spectrasonic instruments: the UVI-Engine. This is why you're finding the same compatibility chart. So no RTAS PC there. When asked, the developers of the UVI-Engine will tell you that the RTAS compatibility was very difficult to implement. But Pro Tools users are usually high profile, and that justified the cost, more than sales.
